Introducing Social Enterprise
Social enterprise Works delivers this course on behalf of RISE. Whether you work at a strategic level, or provide initial information or advice to entrepreneurs or socially-minded individuals, this course will bring to life the diversity of what social enterprise can mean and what it can deliver. This one day course will give you a clear understanding of social enterprise and how relevant it may be to your clients or community. The course is fully endorsed by SFEDI against their standard for information advisors.
Professional Development for Social Enterprise Advisers
Whether you already support social enterprises or are new to this role, the Professional Development series provides all the knowledge and skills you need. These courses will confirm and improve your practice – raising the standard of the advice you offer. The courses cover all the areas of expertise required by the social enterprise units for advisors (SFEDI standards).
The 3-day course will enable you to: identify and facilitate the opportunities to start viable social enterprises; help social enterprises through the early business planning stages and consideration of legal structures; and help social enterprises improve their performance, develop and grow.
The C3Perform approach to improving performance
Social Enterprise deliver a one-day course for advisers of third sector organisations.
Being able to demonstrate performance/quality is increasingly important for third sector organisations.
The C3Perform tools offer a simple and time efficient approach to improving performance. Through a simple process of self-assessment and action-planning, the tools aim to help organisations get started on a journey of performance improvement.
Social Enterprise Works has developed this one-day course for advisers working with third sector organisations. It offers an opportunity to learn about and try out the innovative C3perform self-assessment tools so that you can advise or support third sector organisations through a process sof performance improvement.
Performance Improvement Working Groups
Performance Improvement Working Groups (PIWGs) provide a forum for 5-6 organisations to work together over 3 sessions, with the support of a trainer, to discuss implementing specific improvement to the way they work. These task-focussed groups are based on the principles of benchmarking, or shared learning.
This award winning approach to supporting organisations to improve performance has been developed by the C3Partnership.Working groups provide an opportunity to implement improvements to the way each organisation collects and uses information about the outcomes of its work, to drive strategy and achieve their mission and aims. Sessions incorporate practical training, structured activities to facilitate peer learning and time to work alone or in pair to plan and implement improvements.
The sessions are usually spread over 4-6 months and organisations commit to work between sessions to implement improvements and report on progress at subsequent meetings.The C3Partnership has devised and run PIWGs on:
- How to understand the needs of your customers
- How to understand the needs of your people
- How to measure social impact
Action Learning Sets
Action learning sets are a very powerful tool for developing leadership skills and positively transforming the way you work for the benefit of your organisation. After successful piloting as part of the C3 project, we are offering a new programme in 2008.
Action learning sets involve a small group of people employed in similar roles, working together over a period of six months to explore issues/problems within their working environment in order to develop long-term solutions.
A previous participant said ‘Not receiving supervision or line management isn’t helpful for my development, but being able to take issues to the set has been invaluable as it has given me the opportunity to work through a problem with a group of competent successful people whose opinions I trust and value.’
